Late afternoon view of the main road eastwards from the provincial capital Adıyaman as it reaches the Euphrates. In 1990 the waters of the river are backing up behind the Atatürk Dam, the bridge at the crossing being submerged.
In the distance the ancient mound ( höyük ) at Tille survives - for now.
... A large part of this area has now been flooded. Today the main road goes north from Kahta, then east via Narince to a new road bridge, the Nissibi Köprüsü, which crosses the river at Keferge.
