The main road eastwards from the provincial capital Adıyaman crosses the river at Tille, a small village built into the side of an ancient mound which was occupied from prehistoric times. The road, constructed in the 1970s, continues on to a junction - turn left for Diyarbakır, right for Şanlıurfa.
