The Manahoz River at Sürmene. The bridge seen here ( since replaced by a bigger one ) would seem to be sited at the main crossing point before the construction of the four-lane Trabzon to Rize highway closer to the mouth of the river ( in the 1970s ? ). Today that road itself has been superseded by the Black Sea Coastal Highway on the shore ( six lanes in Sürmene ).
