Just north of the modern village the 10th century church named after Emperor Nikephoros II Phokas ( r 963-939 ) is set into the side of a precipice. Today steps lead up through this exposed part of the structure to the entrance to the nave. Impressive frescoes lie within.
Also known as the 'Pigeon House' Church.
