An ancient settlement, the port became known as Ayas in the Middle Ages. The fortress seen here was largely rebuilt during the Ottoman era. The minaret is that of the Merkez Cami, whilst on the right is a glimpse of the Erzin Konak. The modern harbour is off to the left.
