Opened in 1974, this bridge carries the 01/E5 motorway across the Golden Horn between Ayvansaray and Halıcıoğlu. Since this photograph was taken, seperate one-way bridges have been built either side of the main bridge to cope with the ever increasing traffic. Between 2006 and 2010 the Haliç and other wide spanned Istanbul bridges underwent seismic retrofit strengthening.
