A view to the south-east of the Golden Horn from 'Pierre Loti's Café', situated on the heights above the cemetery at Eyüp. In the foreground is the Eyüp High School and its soccer pitch, whilst in the middle distance is the Haliç Bridge.
Eyüp, seen centre-right, is an important place of pilgimage for muslims, being the burial place of Ayyub al-Ansari, standard-bearer of the Prophet Muhammad. Ayyub died during the Arab seige of Constantinople between 674 and 678.
... There is now a cable car connecting Eyüp and a station near the café.
