Wooden houses
There was a time, before concrete, when most people in Istanbul lived in houses like these.
Unfortunately, the combination of a spark and a fresh breeze would often result in the fiery destruction of hundreds of dwellings.
I have a distant memory of this being a street not too far from Beyazıt, perhaps on the way to the neighbourhood of Vefa.
Whether these buildings survive, I know not.
