The Library of Atıf Efendi, founded in 1741, is situated in a courtyard behind this building, which originally accommodated the library staff. Atıf Efendi was a Treasury minister during the reign of Sultan Mahmut I ( 1730-1754 ).
The library is affiliated to the Süleymaniye Library.
At the junction of Sarı Beyazıt Caddesi and Vefa Caddesi, not too far from the Süleymaniye Mosque.  View from the east.
... The building has undergone restoration. A lot of redevelopment is under way in the neighbourhood.
