The southern gate of the city, restored in the early 10th century by Abbasid Caliph Al-Muqtadir. At some point two of the original three openings were walled up, with just the eastern one remaining today. The modern road out of the city bypasses the eastern tower.
The view is no longer obscured by this timber yard.
View from the west.
