Kıllık is some 20 km east-north-east of Gerger, next to the Euphrates. The village ( out of view to the right ) is built on a ridge overlooking riverside meadows, with terraced fields on the hillside above. The place is the site of the Roman fort of Barsalium. The structure seen here is thought to be the remains of a pier of a Roman aqueduct.
