The fortress of Yeni Kale at Eski Kâhta ( now Kocahisar ) was built in the late 13th and early 14th centuries, during the reigns of Mamluk sultans Qalawun, Ashraf Khalil and Nasir Muhammad. The castle extends along a narrow ridge above a precipice.
On the left, steps lead down the cliff to the Water Gate.
