A foundry was established here in the early 20th century. It was demolished in 2002 and in 2004 replaced by the Guildhall, occupied by Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council and later Shrewsbury Town Council. The Guildhall building is now occupied by University Centre Shrewsbury.
