Robert Lenkiewicz moved to 25 The Parade, next to Blackfriars Ope on Plymouth's Barbican in 1969, where he had a studio and the shop seen here. In 1971 he began work on a large mural, completed the following year, painted on the wall of the adjacent warehouse.
March 1973 saw the opening of Lenkiewicz's 'Vagrancy' exhibition, a study of vagrancy in and around the city, the first of a number of themed 'Projects' he developed until his death in 2002.
