Porthleven is Britain's most southerly port. The landmark building is the Bickford-Smith Institute, with its clocktower, erected next to the pier in 1882, opening as a reading room and library. It is to be seen being lashed by huge waves during severe winter storms.
In the foreground the former Lifeboat Station, minus its slipway, in service from 1895-1929, now an art studio.
View to the south-east from Breageside.
