American cars ...
Having grown up in a land of small cars I regarded American ones as exotic. I came across them in 1970s Istanbul. Although many were still in private ownership, their main function seemed to have been serving as dolmuş taxis,* their large size making them the ideal vehicle.
Would I have liked to have driven one of these American classics? At the back of my mind is the unwelcome thought of being in a collision on a remote stretch of highway, with no seat-belt, no air-bag ...
