The Commagene city of Arsameia was established here by Arsames I in the 3rd century BC.
Cut into the rock at the western corner of the site is a relief, some 4m high, of King Samos II Theosebes Dikaios ( r 130 - 109 BC ).
View to the north-west, with a few scattered houses near the village of Kesertaş, and the Gerger River in the distance.
