The Sphendone
This semi-circular wall supports the south-western end of the Hippodrome, a vast structure begun in 203 by Emperor Septimius Severus and enlarged by Constantine the Great in the 4th century. This view of 1982 shows that the low building in the foreground visible in 1979 has been knocked down, providing a space for taxi drivers to tinker with their cars.
View to the north-west from Nakilbent Sokağı.
... These houses have been demolished. A car park now occupies the site.
