CS-75/1/13E

The pyramids of the royal cemeteries at Meroë date from c 300 BC to c AD 350. This view of the North Cemetery shows in the foreground the rubble-filled Pyramid 11. Typically, remains were interred in an underground chamber below a funerary chapel projecting from the base of the pyramid.  Looking south, late afternoon, from the sumit of Pyramid 12 ( numbering after Dunham ).
Some 5 km east of the Nile at Begrawiya, near Kabushiya.
