SS Torrey Canyon Torrey Canyon oil spill
The SS Torrey Canyon ran aground on the Seven Stones reef, between Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Attempts by tugs to move the ship failed and she broke up. In order to try and limit the spread of the oil spill, aircraft from the Fleet Air Arm and Royal Air Force dropped bombs, napalm and kerosene on the ship and oil. The ship is just visible here.
