In the foreground the Temple of Saturn, on this site from 497 BC, although the columns seen here date from the 4th century AD. To the left a glimpse of the Arch of Septimius Severus, dedicated in AD 203. In the mid-distance, to the left of the Via Sacra, the remains of the Temple of Antonius & Faustina of AD 14, also the site of the Church of San Lorenzo in Miranda, originally of the 11th century. In the far distance the 12th century bell-tower of the Church of Santa Francesca Romana, beyond which is the Colosseum.
View to the south-east from behind the Palazzo Senatorio.
