A glimpse of the Forum of Augustus. Work started on the forum in about 30 BC, but it was still incomplete when inaugurated in 2 BC. The columns belong to the Temple of Mars Ultor ( Avenger ) which was built up against the perimeter wall. The archway - Arco dei Pantani - was one of two inserted into the wall by Emperor Tiberius in AD 19.
